Laufen Gehen
This page will be dedicated to my marathon training.

Whoo! Saturday, I ran twelve miles. It’s been kind of amazing. Like, I’ve missed the last three weeks of long runs (due to either redbarn, class, or whatever) and the last “long” run I ran was seven miles. I’m really proud of myself for making it into double digits. That’s totally nuts. I can also more than carry a conversation with someone. This week, our long run is only 10 miles, so I’ve totally got this!

Marathon Running has been really great. I can easily run the miles assigned for class without stopping. In fact, the other night, Nathan and I ran 4 maybe 4.5 miles and talked to each other the whole way (granted it was more of a jog, but marathon running is pretty much jog pace). That means that my stamina and endurance are inching their way for marathon success. I’ve also improved my marathon (running consecutive miles) minute per mile. It used to be 10:15 per mile, but now it’s 9:40 per mile. Hopefully I can bring it down to 8 by the 10k in October. Now, if I’m running just one mile, that time is 6:48. Today for class, we had to run 4 miles, and I feel that every time I get to mile 3, I have intense stomach pains. This time, I seriously couldn’t hold it in for the entire 4 miles, so I took a pit stop at McClain when we got to Franklin and Normal and had like, MASSIVE diarrhea. Sorry for the share. But good thing I didn’t let myself prairie dogg that one.

I ran 3 or 4 miles today, so I’m feeling ok about starting class again. Here are those Mizunos that I keep forgetting to post about:

I’ve convinced Nathan to come run a 10k with me in October! It’ll be tons of fun. In the past few weeks, I’ve run a lot, and then have ran very little. In fact, this past week has seen me running less than 5 miles, which is just plain sad. Life in St. Louis with my family keeps me from finding time for running. The other day, Cheryl and I ran to Soux Passage Park, a few miles away from our house. We didn’t make it very far because the sidewalk disappears from the woods. I’ve decided in the last few days that I would start the Master Cleanse; it’ll help me get it together mentally and physically for the marathon, as well as prepare me for eating for a marathon. It’ll be a rough 3 weeks, but I think it’ll be well worth it.

I’ve signed up for an exercise science course called, Marathon Training. In December, the whole class will ride down to Memphis Tennessee and run a full marathon for our final. It sounds totally kickass and I’m psyched about this course. Sometime this week, I’ll be buying some new running shoes. In the mean time, I’ve been feeling ill so running hasn’t been a high priority.
