Good Golly, Miss Molly

December 14, 2009

I’ve been on crutches all week, and just as I’m able to finally start walking without them, I contract some gnarly stomach flu.  At the time, I think that I’m lactose intolerant which it turns out I’m not.  After 3 maybe 4 baffling and disgusting days with that, I’ve now contracted the cold or flu.  I’ve been sick for over a week now and this finals season SUCKS a big one.  Luckily, I have everything I need to do in rolling order now, so if I can just make it through the next few days, everything will be awesome.

Btw, now I’ve made Colin sick, too.  I’m sorry!

Additionally, I’m looking forward to all of the fun things we’ll be doing in Saint Louis.

Down & Out

December 9, 2009

For this entire week, I had been pretty optimistic, especially for being under my circumstances.  I have impending amounts of studio work to do, a drawing critique that I feel I barely have any work to show for, a mysterious injury (and I only mean it as mysterious, because I don’t have health insurance so I can’t get an x-ray to figure out if I really do have a stress fracture or not) and then prolific organizational exigencies that I feel I barely have done my part for.

I dragged my ass out of bed early, immediately after Colin left so that I could hobble over through the snow to my car and clear it—to which I carried a heavy-for-being-injured-card table, all of my drawing materials, coffee supplies and other nuisances—so that I could find any available parallel parking spot.

I woke up kind of in a bad mood, possibly from the nauseating sensations I have been feeling nearly every night for the past three nights, only to come to the realization that these oppressive events that I’ve been experiencing has finally knocked me down.  You win. I am in a bad mood, and I can’t feel good right now.

I can officially call myself a runner.

December 7, 2009

Friday morning, my marathon training class drove down to Memphis Tennessee, and we pretty much loafed around downtown so we wouldn’t expend all of our energy.

This is at the convention center.  I convinced John to run the full marathon.  Lookin’ coy!

Our hotel, (stayin at da holiday inn) had a hospitality school and museum.  Weird!

Yeah, so anyways, 6 months ago, I couldn’t even run a full mile without stopping.  I was the most pathetic runner on my cheerleading squad, and I’m pretty sure everyone was kind of doubtful that I’d ever run more than a few miles non-stop.  But on Saturday, December 5th, 2009, at 5:35:41, I finished a 26.2 mile race against cancer and against myself.  I’m currently in excruciating pain, I possibly might have a stress fracture, but I think I’m going to keep running. I came in 2238th place out of 3500.

I’m wearing this thing all week.

In other news, Colin picked me up from after the race, and he assembled what one would call, “the McGang Bang” which is a McChicken, nestled in between a double cheeseburger.

It’s been nearly 2 weeks,

it feels like, since I uploaded photos off of my camera.  I keep misplacing my usb cord. Nearly 300 new photos to slow my computer down.

We’ll start off with the Monday after Sunday (duh) that I arrived in Seattle.  This is the left over Thanksgiving breakfast that Riz and I made:

Ok, Riz made it.  I was busy dicking around.

Detail.

Colin and I have wanted to do quite a few shenanigans, and we actually have quite the list for things we want to do.  Today, we knocked one off the list, with him ordering the “Meatcube”, also known as the “Grand Slam”, also known as the “One Pound Cheeseburger”, also known as a four-patty burger.  The entire progression of photos are really great, and Ashley’s going to help me make a gif out of it.

fuckin’ huge.

Here we go!

It came double wrapped.

The first bite’s the hardest bite.

Colin, that looks like regret.

So close!

Look at that bicep.  Good try, Colin.  Good try.

So that’s basically it.  Tomorrow, I leave at 6:30 am to Memphis, Tennessee where I’ll be running (maybe) a marathon! I might drop down to a half, mostly due to the time constraint.  I know I can do it!  Wish me luck!
